Desperate Times

Just a hand full of days after the Supreme Court struck down decades of precedent protecting women's health, we're presented with another example of the fragile nature of reproductive rights. Today, a bomb was discovered outside an Austin, TX abortion clinic. Luckily, no one was hurt and the suitcase sized device was disarmed without incident.

New York's governor Eliot Spitzer, concerned about further erosion of reproductive rights at the national level, introduced legislation to enshrine abortion rights in an updated law.

But, a state by state approach will leave millions of women without basic reproductive freedoms. Now, more than ever, we need a federal law the codifies the rights spelled out in Roe v. Wade. The Freedom of Choice Act is that law -- support it today.
