Do you want to vote to end the war in Iraq?

If you are a California resident you could have the opportunity. Earlier this year, Senator Perata introduced the "U.S. Out of Iraq Resolution," which would allow California voters to tell President Bush to withdraw the troops from Iraq. If approved by Governor Schwarzenegger it would be the first up-or-down statewide vote by the public on the war in Iraq. Earlier this spring the State Senate approved sending this initiative to the ballot and on Monday the Assembly concurred.

The majority of Americans want the troops home. The expense of the Iraq war in lives and money has taken a toll on all of us and with President Bush's refusal to listen to public opinion it is time that the voters tell him directly to withdraw our troops. Here in California we have lost over 300 people and the war has cost Californians close to $50 billion. I just sent a letter to Gov. Schwarzenegger urging him to let me vote on February 5 to end the war. Over 3,000, Working Assets California customers already sent a printed letter to the governor and today alone 2,500 Working Assets activists sent letters online. I urge you to join us. Click here to send a letter to the governor today.

If you live outside California I urge you to contact your elected officials to bring a vote on ending the war in Iraq in your state and if you are wondering how much the war is costing people in your state go visit our friends at the National Priorities Project and click on your state. It may surprise you to find out how much money is being pulled out of your state to fund the war in Iraq.
