Fox Should Just Become A Comedy Channel
While Fox's efforts at creating a comedy equivalent to The Daily Show have been ill-received, they could consider just going into comedy as a whole...because getting caught editing the Wikipedia entry on Al Franken is just funny.
From Matt Stoller at OpenLeft:
There's a new tool out there that lets you search the destination IP addresses for people editing wikipedia entries. Arthur Bergman found that folks at Fox News's IP address were editing Al Franken's entry. Apparently, Fox News propagandists deleted Franken's statement that Fox News's legal case against Franken was ""literally laughed out of court" and that "wholly (holy) without merit" is a good characterization of Fox News itself." The Fox News users also added a 'liberal' adjective when characterizing the NPR show 'Fresh Air'.
First, I don't have time to read -- much less edit -- my own friends' Wikipedia entries...either to praise or prank them. Fox clearly has too much time on their hands. Time they're not using working as "newspeople."
Second, it shows they don't understand how new media works. Which makes sense -- because they're not.
And third, could you write something funnier than the idea that Fox is so bad at news that they make other people's truth false as well?
