The President Drops a Few Names in the Case for War
Is it me, or did President Bush's speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars this week make it seem like he just got a subscription to Mental Floss and can't wait to show off? First he makes reference to Graham Greene's The Quiet American to support his case for staying in Iraq - and is incoherent at best. A moment later he's quoting modern-day WW2 historians to back his case - historians who protest that they're being almost wholly misinterpreted.
What's next, a mention of the movie 300?
Discussion
Perhaps next time Bush could reference Dostoyevsky..and Crime and Punishment or say The Idiot..?
