    Obama's Defining Moment

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bob-burnett/obamas-defining-moment_b_244229.htmlis the headline of a new post by Bob Burnett over at the Huffington Post. I think he gets it just right.

With the battle over health care reform now fully engaged, the stakes are enormous for the health of Americans, the profits of insurance companies, and the political future of the country. Obama can do a lot, but I dont think he can win this one on his own. That leaves us. Do everything you can. I will be doing that and you can rest assured that CREDO will as well.

It's times like these that I happily remind myself that the smallest dogs yap the loudest.

I just got an email from CREDO asking me to urge Congress to do something about health care immediately.

I think they're wrong on this one.

I don't want to see anything rushed through Congress.

I think the best chance for single-payer is a thoughtful deliberative process.

There IS a reason Obama wants it rushed. The more people study other single-payer systems and learn about the consequences of them, the less likely they are to submit to one. Thus, for Obama to achieve his goal, the healthcare "reform" has to be passed before people can effectively oppose it.
