I went to McCain's own website to look at his take on the issues. That didn't help - every one of them was so loaded down with buzzwords and empty rhetoric I felt like I was surrounded by wasps in an empty warehouse. In fact his "pro-jobs pro-growth" statement about "getting the economy back on track" sounded exactly like the same line used the past five or six generations by ALL presidential candidates.
The Republican Party cannot make a concrete stand on the issues. If they did, they would have to admit that they were in power the past eight years and that in all that time, they not only failed to address the issues, they made the problems worse.

they'd also have to admit that they cowtow to banks, arms makers, oil companies, wall street and as always, remain the party of the rich.

much as I hate to say it, the democrats aren't much better. Obama and McCain both have similar rhetoric on topics such as the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Iran, and free trade/NAFTA. Obama has also been involved in some anti-union issues back when he was a senator. He looked the other way while auto workers were forced back to work after a strike.

yeah, welcome to the two party America. Eight years ago, the two sounded so similar I honestly felt that it wouldn't matter who won. If the republican's win, we're screwed and we get a cigarette. If the Democrats win, we're screwed in a different way and I think we get a pill instead of a cigarette (i THINK more pharmacuticals support the Dems, not sure though). Either way, I wish they'd at least use lube.

yeah i agree too, as molly ivins said, "we have two parties that represent capital."
i think they are issuing different rhetoric on iraq and iran aren't they? i just don't trust obama, especially if there's a suicide bombing or somesuch while he's president, i'm sure he'll find a country to bomb.
i'll take obama for the supreme court appointments if nothing else.

yeah well, thats the thing of it, isn't it? we have to choose the lesser of two evils, or not at all. either we vote for the candidate we think is least bad, or we don't vote at all. i think i might just follow george carlin on this, and abstain from voting. at least my vote wont be used to justify wars and policies i disagree with.

McCain and Palin are scary because what if McCain has a Vietnam flashback and Palin has a bad menopause on the same day?
