I know this is frustrating. I totally understand Sparky's cynicism. Personally I think a nice partisan action for Obama and the Democrats to take would be to immediately arrest the leading lights of the Bush administration for war crimes, and ship the bastards off to The Hague.
However, to complain about Obama's emphasis on a 'post-partisan' approach is disengenuous. He has been saying this ever since his big "Red State-Blue State" speech back in '04. If you read his "Audacity of Hope" it is a constant theme throughout. In other words, he has been promising this all along. I may not like it, but yes, this is exactly what I expected from the man. And it is entirely possible that as the economy tanks, as the environment unravels, as the Middle East blows up etc, an approach which emphasizes everybody pulling together may be the most effective way to go.
Who knows. Good luck Obama. Good luck Americans.
Actually, it happens whenever Democrats need the truth changed. If they say, during Clinton's tenure, that Social Security is on its last legs and needs reform desperately, the moment a Republican president stands to gain politically by listening to them, history magically rewrites itself to remove any evidence that the Republican is doing what the Democrats declared needed to be done. It so happened that Clinton was caught red-handed in at least two felonies and credibly accused of others yet history is magically rewritten to turn felonies into "private matters" that Republicans only care about because they're obsessed with sex.
This only happens for Democrats. If a Republican gets elected suddenly, history is very relevant and every breath that the party has taken since 1776 is scrutinized.
Also, truth is very convenient because the new truth, as defined by the Democrats, is that the Bush administration committed crimes.
