Bush's Motto: You Do the Crime, You Don't Do the Time
President Bush just commuted the sentence of convicted felon Scooter Libby, making one of the lasting mottos of his presidency: You do the crime, you don't do the time.
So much for the Republicans whole "law and order" mantra...

Discussion
You didn't think the most corrupt presidency in our nation's history was really going to send a member of near-royalty to prison, did you?
B'sides which, Libby knows who/what the bodies are and where they're buried. Now that he has his commutation, he doesn't have to put forth the effort to write a tell-all book.
This is another Good News/Bad News story.
The Bad News? The Bushites continue to rape and pillage fundamental standards of ethics and justice.
The Good News? The Bushites continue to rape and pillage fundamental standards of ethics and justice... with a huge red neon sign over their heads that says "WE ARE EVIL".
Remember when Colbert said that this administration was, if anything, rearranging the deck chairs on the Hindenburg? (Did that comment, to Bush's face, earn Steven a Tom Chamber's facial award? If not, why not?)
The Neo-Cons and the Theo-Cons have been exposed, beyond any doubt, as trashers of every principle that genuinely patriotic Americans revere. The Democratic leadership has shown itself to be all bluster and no balls. ("Mr. President, there's a new Congress in town!")
I am personally convinced that we need to keep Gitmo open, ship the current occupants to CONUS and give them their fair day in court, disposing of them as appropriate, while impeaching Cheney and Bush, then charging both, alongside Wolfowitz and Rumsfeld, et al, with Treason, demanding they be sentenced to spend every remaining day of their lives in the newly vacated cells of Guantanamo Bay, only eligible for parole when the last burn victim, amputee, or psychologically devastated Veteran of the Iraq war has passed on.
The populist "right" imposes "law and order" dogma on society but exempts themselves from it just when their butts are on the line ! So much for real justice ! But seriously, anyone who knows Bush and his gang and the feeble opposition had to figure that Libby would never be held accountable just like Enron still has yet to actually be held accountable and NO, a few milion-dollar wrist slapping won't do !
This shouldn't have come as a suprise given who we are talking about, not mention that Clinton set precendent for this with his slimy pardons.
Another thing is that Pelosi and Reid set the stage for this and other executive "go fuck yourself" moments by refusing to impeach WhiteHouse officals after they got into power. This gave a green light to Rove and Cheney to use the legislative branch as a doormat with nary a worry.
You cannot meet evil on the battlefield with abject cowardice and corruption(the Democrats)and expect anything other than a rout.
I'm with you Walt, Nancy Pelosi and Reid have trashed the Constitution and rule of Law..!
WE ARE A NATION OF LAW MAKERS, NOT A NATION OF LAW..!
It's remarkable how committed partisan Democrats can be to the Bill of Rights and the principles of our Constitution when it benefits them ... but when they have power, they instantly become petty tyrants.
I've been thrown off conservative blogs like David Horowitz' FrontPageRag and censored by SquareState for pointing out the hypocrisy of both sides, and I suspect that that will continue. Dems have no grounds for complaint against King George II when they behave almost as badly as our pResident when they have power "because they could."
How long will it be before David Sirota does the same thing? Probably not very. People invariably abuse the power they are invested with.
