Tancredo: Deny American Kids Health Care, Because Illegal Immigrant Kids Might Get It, Too
First it was "we must burn down the village to save it." Now, according to Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO), we should deny American children health care because there's a tiny possibility illegal immigrant children might get health care, too. I kid you not.
I guess this means Tancredo also wants us to stop funding, say, firefighting services, because while they may save thousands of people, it's possible that firefighters may also inadvertently save illegal immigrants, too. And I assume he advocates Congress cutting off funding for road maintenance because while Americans need their roads, it's possible illegal immigrants will use the roads, too. Oh yes, and what about counterterrorism? I suppose Tancredo supports cutting off all funding to that priority because while stopping terrorist bombings may save American lives, there's a chance it might save the lives of a few illegal immigrants.
No matter how you feel about the immigration issue, this line of logic is insane.

Discussion
When my wife broke her leg in the Alps in 1990, we got a bill from the German hospital, despite the fact that they have universal coverage. There's no reason we can't do the same for foreigners getting medical care in our country.
Unfriggin believable. The terrorist analogy hits the mark.
Worker friendly trade agreements, meaningful employer sanctions and compassionate attrition are better methods for dealing with illegals than full billing for ski accidents. Or so it would seem.
Sirota misrepresents Tancredo's opposition, and fails to note why the Dems probably support opening this program to foreign citizens.
And, he does so against his own interests: if Sirota came out against even more giveaways to corrupt employers and the corrupt Mexican government, he might find more support for his plans.
Sirota is actually correct. Let's face it. The economic policies against the working class has been taking place ever since RAYGUN came into office. But now that the BANKRUPTED KONSERVATIVE ideology is biting those motherfuckers back in the ass, they have to find someone or some people to blame because they know that their policies are coming home to roost and they have no intention of actually fixing the problem but actually aggravating it and causing more trouble. Anybody who thinks Tancredo is here to save America would do well to look at Tancredo's actual voting record. With the exception of voting against a few "free" trade deals, Tancredo has pretty much been in support of the konservative ideology of causing more problems than solving. If Tancredo really cared to fix the problem, then why did he publicly show his support of Calderon over Obrador when it was obvious that Calderon fought to dump more immigrants into America whereas Obrador actually fought to keep them? And what about Tancredo's support for privatization, deregulation, outsourcing, offshoring, etc ... ? The kons will use anything as a slippery slope to achieve their evil means.
Tancredo, Rohrbacher, SenseLESSbrenner, etc ... will always make complaints about "illegals" getting healthcare but ask them to change the policies which currently make it nearly impossible for working class Americans to get affordable healthcare and they'll gleefully DENY it. These motherfuckers and the terrorist organizations sure make strange bedfellows when it comes to maximizing poverty and terrorism !
By the way, where's Tancredo when you need him to stand up to Bush giving 24 billion of financial/military aid to the Saudis (home of the 19 9/11 hijackers) along with 31 billion to the zionists in Israel in taxpayer money? 55 billion dollars would be better spent providing kids in America affordable healthcare.
Chris V,
If your wife got injured in this country, Tom Tancredo's support of privatized health "care" in America would guarantee that your wife would get the same treatment from American hospitals as she did from German hospitals. Tancredo would much rather have your anger focused on foreigners more than his TRAITOROUS MISLEADERSHIP of maximizing poverty and terrorism in America.
By the way, in case anyone is misunderstanding Sirota, please reread the post and keep in mind that Tancredo has NO INTENTION of helping the American workers. If he did, the first thing he would worry about are the policies that actually led to this mess and the last thing he'd do is find someone to blame without merit, not the other way around. To sum up Tancredo's nonsense, here's his philosophy "Pay no attention to the policies that I am supporting even if this means fucking America to death. Instead, just blame an outside source and let me be your MISleader."
It would be nice if foreign citizens using our medical system would be billed for it. But they are not. They can walk into any state clinic or even be admitted into a hospital and never have to pay one red cent unlike most Americans. Who sadly end up paying for the illegal alien medical benefits.
Perhaps the best way to super-punch-test the "conservatives" who keep railing about the need to keep "illegal" immigrants from receiving healthcare benefits is to whack them back with this simple but powerful question, almost a rebuttal of a question: "Ok? But when, if ever, are you going to give us back our healthcare benefits that your reckless policies have robbed from us for far too long?"
Better yet, hit them even harder with this heavy hitter: "Either you're with us in giving us working class Americans our healthcare benefits back or you're AGAINST us ! Is that clear?" Now that's what I call taking the "conservative" weaponry and using it against them.

Conservative? Liberal? Leftist? Neocon?
Forget those labels when you speak of illegal immigration. You are either an American and oppose illegal entry to our country or you are in favor of it. There is no middle ground here.
You either want to deny benefits to illegal aliens or you advocate giving it to them.
Sirota is one of those guys that favor giving CHIP money to illegal aliens. He obviously favors letting illegal adults use CHIP money instead of American children since he wants to fund it in its current form.
As it stands now, since 1-1-07 pregnant illegal alien women are covered using SCHIP monies. Isn't that a great win for Progressives! Illegal adults getting money that was supposed to go to American children.
Congratulations to you all!
Well Thomas More, why don't you fight the domestic policies denying American kids their healthcare instead of engaging in SCHADENFREUDE mode? Fight to get your benefits first and your enemies won't be as strong. On the other hand, you can keep watching and hoping that Mr. TINKERBELL Tancredo will actually do anything to help you which you know he doesn't but don't cry over spilled milk when you're FUCKED !
